Within each of the four urban fragments (Centro Storiche, Parco Sempione, Porte Monforte e Venezia, and Stazione Centrale), a selection of buildings is analysed that are typical of the urban tissue of each fragment. Most of the selected buildings are apartment buildings and form part of the general (even generic) material of the urban fabric. With the choice to analyse these types of buildings instead of important public buildings (or ‘monuments’ as Aldo Rossi calls them), the analysis aims to deepen the understanding of the urban tissue of the urban fragments itself, rather than certain individual exceptions like churches or museums.
