This book studies of the city of Rome and its peculiar history. In the course of its three millennia of history, it has been the first great metropolis of humanity and the capital of the Roman Empire, the Papal States, and the Kingdom of Italy. This book will try to disclose this fascinating story, starting with growth maps which show the development of the whole city. The extensive story of changes that occurred in Rome throughout the centuries is what makes the history of this city so peculiar. In this story, the street is the key element that we have used to read the city. The chosen selection of eight streets represents the development and the morphology of the city.
